The website is realized by an European research group working on crafts and industries of ancient Europe and the Mediterranean area, within a chronological range covering the Iron Age and the Greek and Roman periods (VII century B.C. – V century A.D.). Twice a year Instrumentum issues a Bulletin and it also published more than 30 monographs up to now. On-line bibliographies are catalogued according to material (metal, stone, wood, terracotta, glass, etc.) and artifacts (jewels, medical instruments, personal ornaments, military equipment, musical instruments, etc.).
