This paper re-examines the fibulae and pins from the western necropolis of Afrati (Crete) through an integrated analysis of typology, archaeological contexts, and archival documentation. The study explores their circulation, possible uses, and involvement in funerary ritual, distinguishing directly documented evidence from functional interpretations. Although quantitatively limited, these objects are primarily associated with the stages between cremation and the deposition of the remains and contribute to our understanding of dress, the representation of the deceased, and Afrati’s cultural connections within the Early Iron Age Aegean.
