Recently, Graziella Fiorentini edited a monograph in which the scientific results of systematic excavations carried on during the last decade of the last century and the first years of 2000 are published. These results have enabled to gain a comprehensive and careful understanding of the history of the fortifications of Akragas. Now, the Ente Parco presents to the general public finds and images of the imposing defensive circuit. Friday, September 21st, at 20.00 o’clock, at Casa Dioscuri, the exhibition “Le fortificazioni di Akragas” will be inaugurated. The exhibition is organized in two branches: a first one includes information on ancient sources, on the history of the research the topography and the different building phases of the walls, a second branch shows the most significant finds from recent excavations carried on near some of the gates. Through a multimedia it will be possible to see the virtual reconstruction of the entire defensive circuit.
